Miranda Lyn Garbacz, 42, passed from this life on January 14, 2023, at UMMC SICU as the result of a tragic automobile accident. Numerous doctors and nurses made a supreme effort to save her. Deep gratitude to them and their kind and caring treatment of the entire family. MORA, the organ donor group, was of immeasurable help to the family during this extremely difficult time.
Miranda was born on June 13, 1980, in Rolla, Missouri to Marilyn and Christopher Garbacz. She moved to Mississippi in 1994 and attended St. Andrews School, Madison Central High School, and Ole Miss University. She continued her education at Tulane University, graduating with honors in Computer Science. She was a star player on volleyball teams and excelled at training horses, as well as competing in horse shows. Miranda was an accomplished artist and well known among the Fondren Art Community. No doubt, her intricate and revealing writings will likely find their way to a publisher.
Miranda's big heart made her a great lover of animals. She never met a stray she didn't want to adopt and give a home. And that compassion and loving heart was also reflected in all her charity work.
Miranda's athleticism made her excellent in sports. She enjoyed tennis, biking, running, yoga, and working out at the gym. Miranda's great intellect and competitive nature were very evident if you ever played a game of snooker, chess, Scrabble, or cribbage with her.
Meeting Miranda was a special experience. She was a witty conversationalist and always had a clever twist to add, and a new way to think about everything. Her humor and goodwill were known to all and will be lovingly remembered by all those lives she touched.
Miranda is loved by family and a myriad of friends. A lightening bolt shattering loss, but we take solace knowing the angels celebrated the arrival of Addie’s loving mother to take her place among beloved family members.
She is survived by her daughter, Adelaide Welshans, her parents Marilyn and Christopher Garbacz of Flora, her brothers Matthew Garbacz of North Little Rock; Jeffrey Garbacz of Colorado Springs; and Nathan Garbacz of Reading, England; as well as relatives around the country, and in England and Germany.
Visitation is at St. Richard's Catholic Church on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM, followed by a Solemn Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, with a reception after Mass in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers or food, please consider a donation to the Amanda Garbacz Civil Engineering Memorial Scholarship Fund. Amanda, Miranda's niece, also died young shortly after receiving her Masters in Civil Engineering.
