Obituary for Minnie Sue Bufkin Evans
Minnie Sue Bufkin Evans was born May 22, 1931 in Belzoni, Ms. She was the baby of Roscoe and Tolitha Bufkin’s nine children. Sue left for her heavenly home two days before her 91st birthday on May 20, 2022.
Sue’s professional career including working for five governors as the extradition secretary and in the Secretary of State’s office for 35 years.
Sue was an active member of the Order of Eastern Stars for 48 years. She served as district deputy and worthy matron multiple times. Sue cherished the fellowship and friendships she gained through OES.
Sue loved to garden and grew many flowers and tomatoes. If you had lunch or dinner at her house, she was sure to have a tomato on the table for you. She was an avid puzzle enthusiast whether it was crossword or jigsaw. Sue loved baseball especially her beloved Atlanta Braves and Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings. She is survived by her children Karen Evans, Bill Evans (Kathy), Chuck Evans (Ann) and John Evans (Kim). Her grandchildren Charles Evans (Casey), Allison Weems (Bo), Brandon Evans and Ella Evans. Along with her two great grandsons Rhett and Bowen Weems. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and multiple friends and loved ones including Justin Sanders (Angie) and Mary Margaret Hill (Jamie).
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 23rd at 10 am at Parkway Cemetery. 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, Ms.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.
