Obituary for Mildred "Millie" Gatewood Colquitt
Mildred "Millie" G. Colquitt
Born-Nov 24, 1947
Moved to Heaven- Jan 5, 2019
Millie Colquitt passed away Saturday Jan 5th peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was the only child of the late Charlie and La Nelle Gatewood. Millie is survived by Maternal Aunts that were also her caretakers, Bobbie Tanner of Laurel, Bettye Jefcoat of Soso, Ellen Watkins of Moselle, and Mary Thomas of Brandon. Also, 12 cousins and numerous 2nd cousins. Last but not least, she is survived by her beloved loyal companions, Murphy and Tucker.
These dogs meant the world to her. One of her last request was that her dogs were taken care of. And they are!
When asked about Millie any family member can say their first thoughts of her- are about her love and care of animals. She was a devoted lover of all animals and was particularly concerned over their welfare. Millie graduated from Forest High School and attended The University of Southern Mississippi. After college Millie became a bookkeeper and office manager. Most of her years working were spent at Ms League Central Credit Union. Millie will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.
