Obituary for Michael Shane Mathis, Sr.
Michael Shane Mathis, Sr. 55, died October 19, 2020 at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Doty Springs Cemetery in Attala County.
Shane was born on October 13, 1965, in Carthage the son of Larry and Sarah Mathis. He worked as a plumber for Roto Rooter as well as other plumbing companies. Shane loved the outdoors, especially hunting and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed socializing with friends and listing to Merle Haggard. Michael was of Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Mathis and mother, Sarah Curtis Mathis.
Survivors include: son, Michael Shane Mathis of Raleigh; daughter, Dana Victoria Mathis of Raleigh and their mother, Marlene Clark of Raleigh ; grandchildren, Aaliyah Mathis, Lexi Mathis, Brent Mathis, Daniel Joy, Laykin Jones, and Lauryn Jones. He is also survived by his sisters, Jalane Mathis of Singleton, MS; Tricia Lyle of Carthage and Faith Mathis Dugger of Brandon and a host of nieces and nephews. Shane is also survived by his brother-in-laws, Robert Fredrick of Carthage and Mickey Steinkuehler of Kosciusko.and his Aunt Sylvia Lawrence of Kosciusko Shane is also survived by his longtime companion, Yvette Stover,
