Obituary for Michael Lee Dotson
Michael Lee Dotson died Monday, November 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family following a long illness. He was 54.
A native of Crawfordsville, IN and born October 21, 1966, he was the son of Sharon Bess Durden and Lee Alan Dotson.
Michael spent his childhood in Crawfordsville before moving to Vicksburg, MS. He was a graduate of Warren Central High School where he was member of the Big Blue Marching Band and played the trumpet. He also played baseball and soccer. He was a network manager with AT&T for more than 20 years.
He could do anything skilled with his hands from tinkering with small projects to building stained glass windows and shadow boxes. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and shoot guns. He loved all things LSU Tigers and enjoyed watching LSU football.
In 2017, he was the recipient of the National Student Leadership Academy’s Volunteer Service Award with Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG). The award was formally presented to him by President Donald J. Trump in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife, Robin R. Haskett; son, Jeffrey A. Dotson (Emily); daughters, Kristi Michelle Dotson and Alaina Rae Dotson; mother, Sharon Darlene Durden (Larry); father, Lee Alan Dotson (Mary Ann); stepdaughter, Amy Amelda Haskett; brother, Mark Alan Dotson (Diane); sister, Debra Darlene Embry; his first and soon-to-be born grandchild, Raelynn Claire Hernandez; stepbrother, Thomas Ruston Gardner; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A private family service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Family and friends are invited to visit the Sebrell Funeral Home Facebook page where the service will be streamed live at 11:00 a.m.
