Obituary for May Lipe Mintz
May Lipe Zehnder Mintz, 62, died on March 11, 2018
after a lengthy illness.

May Lipe was born in Meridian and grew up in Oxford, Mississippi,
spending many happy days at the homes of her grandparents in Vance
and Hattiesburg, Mississippi and at Camp Desoto in Mentone, Alabama.
She graduated from Millsaps College with honors, majoring in English
and piano performance. She was presented by the Southern Debutante
Assembly of Greenwood, Mississippi and was a member of the Chi
Delta Chapter of the Chi Omega Sorority. She continued her education
graduating from the University of Mississippi School of Law. After
gaining experience with law firms in Mobile, Alabama and Jackson,
May Lipe served as law clerk for the late Honorable John R. Countiss,
III, U.S. Magistrate Judge and later as a law clerk for the Honorable
William L. Waller, Jr., Chief Justice of the Mississippi Supreme Court.
May Lipe enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the choir (she was an
alto) at several local churches. She was always an animal lover, owning
numerous dogs and happily serving as staff to many kitty cats over the
years.
Mrs. Mintz is survived by her husband of thirty years, Bruce S. Mintz,
previously of New Orleans; cousins Margaret Lipe Miles and Meghan
Miles Gregg, Greenwood, MS; her favorite nephew Jacob R. Zehnder,
Westlake Village, California; her sister-in-law Karen Mintz McDougal,
Madison, MS and one brother Louis S. Zehnder, III of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents Louis S. Zehnder, Jr. and May
Jean Lipe Zehnder; her grandparents Estie Mae Polk Zehnder, Louis S.
Zehnder of Hattiesburg, Carl Pitman Lipe and Ruby Caperton Lipe of
Vance; and her cherished aunt and uncle Carl Thomas Lipe and
Margaret Ann Holmes Lipe of Greenwood, Mississippi; and longtime
surrogate parents Georgia Miller and Queen Mackey, both of Vance.

May Lipe’s family wishes to thank her caregivers: Stephanie Duncan,
Crystal Williams, and Cara Hall of Sta-Home Health in Madison, and
Tommie Rimmer of Jackson.

A memorial service will be on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at
