May Lipe enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the choir (she was an alto) at several local churches. She was always an animal lover, owning numerous dogs and happily serving as staff to many kitty cats over the years. Mrs. Mintz is survived by her husband of thirty years, Bruce S. Mintz, previously of New Orleans; cousins Margaret Lipe Miles and Meghan Miles Gregg, Greenwood, MS; her favorite nephew Jacob R. Zehnder, Westlake Village, California; her sister-in-law Karen Mintz McDougal, Madison, MS and one brother Louis S. Zehnder, III of Texas.

Zehnder of Hattiesburg, Carl Pitman Lipe and Ruby Caperton Lipe of Vance; and her cherished aunt and uncle Carl Thomas Lipe and Margaret Ann Holmes Lipe of Greenwood, Mississippi; and longtime surrogate parents Georgia Miller and Queen Mackey, both of Vance.
