Obituary for Max Henkel III
Max Henkel, III, 68, passed away at his home on Friday, March 10, 2017.
Mr. Henkel is preceded in death by his parents, Max Henkel, Jr. and Shirley Mae Welsh Henkel.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lisa Vitagliano Henkel; sons, Max Henkel, IV (Stacy), Anthony Matthew Henkel and Victor Lawrence Henkel (Miosha); daughters, Lisa Marie Vitagliano-Henkel and Kristin Robin Henkel (Britt); 10 grandchildren, Eric Kristopher Vitagliano, Jocelyn Trisha Henkel, Kianna Unique McDaniels, Kaydence Marie Henkel, Armani LaSha Walker, Jayden Terrell Max Walker, Landon Anthony Henkel, Ma’Kayli Chanel Daniels, Aiden Max Henkel and Audrey Josephine Henkel; also, his loving and faithful companion, his dog,
Buck-A-Roo Henkel; nieces, nephews and a host of loving family and friends.
In 2004 He and his wife relocated to Jackson from Maple Shade, New Jersey where he worked as a roofer for the Local 30. Max was a born again Christian and a man of God who loved The Lord and was a member of Southside Assembly Church of God in Jackson. He loved to work in his garden and possessed a “green thumb.” He also enjoyed fishing, going to the casinos, watching television and sleeping during his free time. Max was an extremely funny person and he adored his grandchildren who affectionately called him, “Pop-Pop” and looked forward to having some of his famous iced tea when they came to visit. He was also a great cook and loved cooking for others.
Max was a decorated Vietnam veteran who fought for his country and received 2 Silver Stars and 4 Bronze Medals. He was considered an expert in marksmanship and was point man for his platoon saving the lives of his brothers in arms on several occasions.
