Obituary for Mary Katherine Wootton
Mary Katherine Wootton died on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at her home. She was 75.
A native and lifelong resident of Jackson, she was born on February 14, 1946, the daughter of William Ross Smith and Thelma Williams Smith.
Mary was versatile in her knowledge and skills in data processing especially in the medical coding field and areas pertaining to insurance. She worked for many years in various information technology capacities at Central Mississippi Medical Center, UMMC, EconoTax, and Prudential.
Mary was known for her keen sense of humor and her passion for animal rescue. She was devoted to the care and well-being of all animals. She was a fantastic artist and enjoyed writing, especially poetry. She was intelligent, forever the poet and hopeless romantic. A life long lover of music.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Hannah Wootton. Preceded in death by all but 1 sibling, Majorie Love Kady-Butler.
She is survived by her daughters, Stacy Daniel, of Jackson and Tiffany Daniel, of Cave Junction, OR; son, Jeffrey Wootton (Amanda), of Richland; grandchildren, Sage Daniel Watkins and Joseph Wootton; sister, Marjorie Love Kady-Butler (Charles Butler), of Biloxi; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2 at Sebrell Funeral Home, Bro. Larry Wilson, officiating. Interment will follow in the family cemetery in Canton. Visitation will be held the hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Jackson Friends of the Animal Shelter, Webster Animal Shelter in Madison, or to any organization that exists for the love and care of animals.
