Obituary for Mary Frances "Fran" Whittington
Mary Frances “Fran” Whittington, 90, died September 14, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2017 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland with burial following at Parkway Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, and 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Whittington was born on June 18, 1927, in Smith County, MS, the daughter of the late Robert Harvey Dukes and Eunice Mildred Dukes. She assisted with her family business, the Gulf Café in Morton, MS for many years. Although legally blind, Mrs. Whittington was a talented at crocheting and proudly made baby blankets for her grandchildren. A former resident of Hurley, MS, she enjoyed assisting with weddings and parties. Mrs. Whittington above all cherished spending time with her family and will most be remembered for her generosity and for willingness to help anyone in need. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by sister, Marie Fikes. Survivors include: daughter, Gayle Rinewalt of Ridgeland; step-son, Daryl Whittington of Oxford; step-daughter, Jackie Gray of Hurley, MS; step-son, Francis Whittington of Moss Point, MS; step-son, David Whittington of Hurley, MS; grandchildren, Sam Lovejoy of Anna, TX; Nicole Rinewalt of Little Rock, AR; Anne DaSilva of San Diego, CA; Karen Long of Madison; Pete Lovejoy of Brandon; Johnathan Lovejoy of New Ablany, MS; Charlie Lovejoy of Hurley, MS; Bryan Whittington, Ryan Whittington and Davey Whittington all of Hurley, MS; Dynshia Hale of Baton Rouge, LA and 15 great grandchildren.
