Obituary for Mary Bentley Neill
Laurel, MS - Mary Bentley Neill, daughter of Mary Deane Neill and John Alexander Neill, Sr., died peacefully on November 9, 2018. She was born on April 14, 1953 in Laurel, Mississippi. She graduated from R. H. Watkins High School and later received a B. A. in Biology from Millsaps College. Called of God to become a missionary, she attended Reformed Theological Seminary and was awarded a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies. Mary loved the Lord and spent her life spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and served as a missionary in France, Pakistan, and China. She was a member of Tuckers Crossing Baptist Church. Her father, John Alexander Neill, Sr., her infant twin brother and sister, Jean and James Neill, and her brother-in-law, Jack Harper, preceded her in death. She is survived by her mother, Mary Deane Neill of Jackson, MS; her sisters, Susan Harper of Jackson, MS, Jane Hughes and her husband Ken, of Charleston, SC, and her brother, John Neill, Jr. of Laurel, MS; her nieces and nephews: Mary Neill McKie of Charleston, SC, Andrew Hagood of Charleston, SC, Lizzie Currin of Lookout Mountain, TN, Josiah Harper of Topeka, KS, and Mary Deane Harper of Jackson, MS; her grandnieces, Louisa and Findlay McKie. The family would like to thank the many caregivers, friends, extended family, and the staff of Hospice Ministries that have helped care for Mary in her battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Tuckers Crossing Baptist Church, 2054 Tuckers Crossing Rd., Laurel, MS 39443, with the Reverend Eddie Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p. m. until the service begins at 5:00 p. m.
