Obituary for Mary Ann Jones
Mary Ann Jones died on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 74.
A native of Jones County, Mississippi and born January 16, 1944, she was the daughter of the late W. J. Gray and Mary Belle Purvis Gray. She worked for many years in various roles for Copiah County Public Schools. She enjoyed gardening and especially being around her beloved dogs, “Buddy”, “Itty Bitty”, “Destiny”, and “Queso”. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Jones, in 1999. She is survived by her daughters: Katherine Lynn Thornton (Carol Ray-Thornton), Patricia Ann Carnahan (Randall); and Ellen Marie Deer, all of Crystal Springs; son, William Timothy Jones (Lois Louise), of Crystal Springs; sister, Sandra Barnet, of Walnut Grove; brother, Eugene Gray, of Ellisville; grandchildren: Christopher, Amanda, and Brandon Rhodes; Ashley and Steven Deer; Nathaniel Thornton; and Matthew Jones; great granddaughter, Lorelei Russell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relvatives.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018 in Rosemont Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery, 3935 I-55 South Frontage Rd, Jackson, MS 39212 with visitation at the graveside beginning at 1 p.m.
