Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Watkins
Mary Elizabeth McCraney Watkins from Terry Mississippi passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
Elizabeth was born in Jackson MS, September 30, 1957, and was a resident of the area throughout her life. She worked at North State Animal and Bird Hospital for over 20 years, and was admired by her many coworkers and clients. She has been an active member with Mississippi wildlife rehabilitation, and especially loved rehabilitating all different species of birds and the occasional squirrel. Frequently bringing wildlife babies into her home for special love and attention. She was an avid painter, baker, and loved working in her gardens. She often would bake goods for her family and neighbors, sharing love as she did. If you looked at her home, you would see bright and vivid colors from all of the flowers she tended to and cared for. She was not afraid to get her hands dirty and work. As a member of The Grand Krewe of Phoenix, Elizabeth was a vibrant person with an infectious smile and love for life. One of her favorite things to do was to serve those in need, and she was always a faithful participant in the monthly Mobile Food Pantries held at Lindenwood Christian Church in Memphis, TN.
Elizabeth is easily described as a free spirit, recently skydiving at the impressive age of 63. Everyone could depend on her for an honest opinion and a good laugh. She was best as a Nana and proudly drove her Nana’s Truck around town. She was loved by many and will be missed by them all. Especially her furry babies, T-bone, Bobo, Jax, Jojo and Angel. Her family is pretty sure she will have a direct link to the rainbow bridge to visit all of her babies that went before her and she will be riding a Harley with Curtis in Heaven on those streets of gold.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father Jaffa McCraney and her husband Curtis Watkins. She is Survived by her Mother, Mary A. Smith of Ridgeland; her daughter, Chelsea Sasser (Benjamin) And Granddaughter Elizabeth Ivy, From Horn lake, MS; and her son Dr. Mac Abernathy (Karen) from Milton, VT; her brothers Jaffa McCraney, Jr. (Tina) from Flora, MS, and Steve McCraney (Sandra) from Terry, Ms; and Nephews Craig McCraney of Terry and Haiden McCraney of Oxford.
