Obituary for Martha Temple Randolph
Martha Temple Randolph, 89, passed away October 9, in Ridgeland. Born June 28, 1931, in Mobile, Alabama, she was the daughter of Aubrey Howard Temple and Flora Peck Temple. A graduate of C. E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, she earned a bachelor of arts degree in home economics from Louisiana Tech University. She married the love of her life, Bill Randolph, on October 17, 1953, in Shreveport, and they moved to Jackson in 1962. Martha Randolph served as president of the Goodwill Industries Volunteer Services from 1984 to 1985, and in 1986 she was named Volunteer of the Year. She was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church and served as president of the Women of the Church. She was involved in many areas of her church including an international reconciliation group and the flower guild. She also worked with Mississippi State Hospital and the State Board of Health in infant and children’s programs. She was in the first class of docents when the Mississippi Museum of Art opened in the late 1970s. She was also a member of the Jackson Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Martha will be dearly missed by her husband of 67 years, William C. “Bill” Randolph, and her sons, Howard Randolph (Evelyn) and Steve “Chief” Randolph (Sophie). She will be fondly remembered as “Nan” by her grandchildren, Will Randolph (Kayce), Nash Randolph, Peyton Randolph, Miriam Randolph Prince (Kevin), Mary Elizabeth Randolph Ferriss (David), and Steven Randolph. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Wimberly Prince and Paxton Ferriss. Memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church or Hospice Ministries, Inc.
