Jean spent many years serving Christ and leading others to find Him. If you asked her what her favorite thing to do was, she would have answered ”go to church”. She was a long time member of Southside Assembly of God in Jackson, MS where she served in many ministries over the years. She was passionate about her mission to help others gain their eternal salvation and go to Heaven and did so by ministering to women in prison, doing hospital ministry, and preaching on the streets. She could often be found in some of the roughest and most dangerous neighborhoods of Jackson as she ministered to drug addicts, prostitutes, gang members and the homeless. Jean actively lived the Great Commission and went wherever she felt God directing her. She was an intercessory prayer warrior and her greatest desire was to bring people to Jesus. In her later years, Jean’s heart was the men at Mercy House Adult and Teen Challenge, Georgetown, MS. She referred to these young men as “her boys” and they called her Grandma. Her genuine love and prayers resulted in many of them changing their paths of life-altering addictions because she always pointed them to Jesus. She continued to pray daily for each of them by name even when she could no longer go to them.
One of her prized memories was the trip she took with her husband to the Holy Land and her baptism in the Jordan River. Jean loved her family and her friends. She cherished her grandchildren. She had a heart for giving to missions work and to those around her. Her life was beautiful and meaningful because she reflected the light of Christ.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her honor to Mercy House Adult and Teen Challenge, 1110 Mary Street, Georgetown,MS
