Obituary for Margaret (Peggy Price Ballard
Margaret (Peggy) Price Ballard passed away on June 19, 2021 at the age of 80 in Jackson. She was born October 18, 1940 in Yazoo City, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Margaret Williams Price and Chelsey Vance Price. She graduated from Murrah High School in 1958 and attended the “W”. She met her love Clyde Ballard, and they had 61 years of wonderful marriage.
Peggy has a talent and love for teaching small children and for many years taught at Miss Jo’s Briarpath and Covenant Presbyterian Schools. In her later years, she enjoyed tutoring and reading with first graders at McLeod School.
She had a flair for decorating and loved entertaining family and friends in their warm and inviting home. She also worked a number of years in the insurance business and was instrumental in helping her husband start their own insurance agency.
Peggy was also an active member of Christ United Methodist Church and enjoyed the New Yorkers Sunday School Class and the Caring Friends Circle.
She is survived by her husband Clyde Ballard, daughters Brette Kirk (Dixon), Andrea Horner (Gene), granddaughters Heather Horner, Abby Willis (Rich), Kendall Singleton (Russ), and grandsons, John Sharp Kirk and Price Horner. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Sharp Albright and brother, Chesley V. Price and nieces and Nephews she adored.
Due to Convention meetings at Christ United Methodist Church, services will be held on Tuesday June 22nd, at Galloway United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. prior to the funeral services. A graveside service for family will follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
