Obituary for Margaret Carolyn “Peggy” Burnside
Margaret Carolyn “Peggy” Burnside, 89, went to heaven on August 12, 2022. She was born September 14, 1932 in Jackson, MS to the late Alvis B. and Margaret C. McNeill. She was a member of Leavell Woods Methodist Church in Jackson, MS. As a homemaker, she provided much love and nurturing to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She took much pride in having a booth set up at flea markets in Jackson and Florence for many, many years. She also owned an antique shop in Raymond and enjoyed having many loyal customers visit her often. She took great joy in watching her children and grandchildren participating in sports and dance, excelling in academic activities, and in obtaining their careers. She was always interested and delighted in their achievements. During her last days, although very sick and weary, she asked about all of her family and more importantly her grandchildren. Mrs. Burnside is survived by her son Dr. Barry Burnside (Kerri) of Clinton, MS; grandchildren Darleen Vessell of Byram, MS, Andy Armstrong and Jason Armstrong of Richland, MS, Mallory Burnside, Riley Burnside, and Hudson Burnside of Clinton, MS; great-grandchildren Baylie Runnels (Drake) of Pearl, MS, Paige Vessell and Zachary Vessell both of Byram, MS; and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Burnside is preceded in death by her husband of 61years, William Luther “Billy” Burnside; her daughters Mary Burnside, Candie Burnside Armstrong, and Donna Burnside Gallagher; her son David Burnside; her parents; and her siblings Gloria McNeill Whyte, Alvis B. McNeill Jr., Harold McNeill, and Reverend Melton McNeill. The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the staff at Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland, MS. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland,MS
