Obituary for Maj. Roy Dale Blue (USA, Ret.)
Maj. Roy Dale Blue (USA, Ret.) passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at his residence in Jackson, MS. He was 70. Roy was born in Vardaman, MS, on June 4, 1950, to the late William Thomas, Jr and Trillia Aston Blue. Roy graduated from Central high School in 1968 and from Mississippi State University in 1973. He started his military career with the ROTC, lettering in rifle at MSU, then began active duty with the US Army after graduation. Field artillery was his army job because he was just that good with guns!! After the Army showed him the world (Germany and Fort Sill, OK), he left active duty and moved to the Army Reserves. He then joined the Mississippi National Guard and in 2010 he retired as a Major. As a part time civilian he worked as a full-time pilot, doing both charters and flight instruction. His hobbies included guns, HAM radio, photography, computers, aviation, cooking, dining out, and he was an avid reader. He loved all things sci-fi and technology related. Roy was a self taught computer geek, but he could build, program, operate and repair nearly any computer he saw. And he was selfless in assisting anyone who asked with a computer related issue. Roy is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda; his mother, Trillia; his sisters, Linda (David) and Dawanna. Roy and Linda never had children, but they loved their fur-babies and all their nieces and nephews beyond measure. The funeral will be Friday, January 22, 2021 at Central Baptist Church- Byram 5751 Terry Rd., Byram, MS with Bro. Gerald Whittington and Mark Bullock officiating. Serving the family as pallbearers will be David Butler, Robert Burney, Ben Carroll, Bucky Bell, Eric Gray, Ricky Wilcher.
