It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mae Bell Roberts (age 66) of Utica, Mississippi,
on October 28, 2022, in Vicksburg, MS. She was born June 23, 1956, to Joseph Dewey and Alice Carson
Martin in Port Barre, Louisiana and fostered by John and Martha Easterwood of Vicksburg, MS. Mae is
predeceased by her husband G. Thomas Roberts.
She is survived by siblings Delores Carman of Gluckstadt, MS; Thomas Easterwood of Pensacola, FL;
Anita Easterwood of Milton, FL; Roy Easterwood of Gulfport, MS; Dean Easterwood of Milton, FL; Dianne
Laubach of Vicksburg, MS and Deborah Britt of Milton, FL. She is also survived by stepchildren David
Roberts of Vicksburg, MS, and Peggy Esquivel of Grand Prairie, TX.
She is predeceased by siblings Josephine Ricks, Jeanette Hodges, Leroy Horne, John Easterwood Jr,
Robert “Skip” Easterwood and stepdaughter Odette Roberts from Vicksburg, MS.
Mae became integrated into the Easterwood family at age 16 and remained a close member the rest of
her life, sharing celebrations and family reunions. We loved her and counted her as a sister. Mae worked
for 33 years at the Deluxe Inn in Vicksburg, where she also integrated herself into the owner’s family.
She enjoyed country life, garage sales, going hunting with her husband and friends. Mae had many
friends who also enjoyed her life, love, and laughter. She brought joy to all who met her.
There will be a private family memorial service at Mae’s home on November 12, 2022, where her ashes
will be scattered on her property. Mae will be mourned by family and friends, who are welcome to
leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
