Obituary for Lynda Faye Carpenter Thames
Lynda Faye (Carpenter) Thames, 74, was called home by the Lord on October 6, 2018. Visitation will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, October 12, 2018 with funeral services beginning at 10:30 am at Hopewell Baptist Church in Crystal Springs. Burial following in Lakewood Memorial Park South in Jackson. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the church after burial. Mrs. Thames was born on April 9, 1944, in Vaiden to the late Robert and Jenner Rose Carpenter. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Gore Springs. Mrs. Thames was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and was very active in her children’s and grandchild’s church, school and sporting events during their childhood. She also worked alongside her husband, David, for many years providing painting and yard maintenance services. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Thames, Sr.; oldest daughter, Sherri Mixon; and sister, LaRose (Carpenter) White. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Angie (Mixon) and Alan Miller of Crystal Springs; granddaughter Peyton Mixon Hicks of Jackson; brother, Bobby Carpenter of Grenada; brother, Eddie Carpenter of Gore Springs; stepdaughter, Djuana Thames Staats of Philadelphia. Along with many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 85 Misterton Rd., Gore Springs, MS 38929 or Hopewell Baptist Church, 2002 Hopewell Rd., Crystal Springs, MS 39059.
