Obituary for Lucille Randall Richmond
Lucille Randall Richmond, 80, died February 8, 2022, in Ridgeland, Mississippi following a lengthy battle with multiple myeloma.

Lucy grew up in Columbus, Mississippi, where she attended S.D. Lee High School and Mississippi University for Women. In 1961 she married J.H. (Harry) Richmond, Jr. of Summit, and together they moved to Oxford where she continued her studies and he attended law school. She graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Elementary Education.

Following graduation, they lived in Starkville where Harry practiced law and she received her Master’s degree while actively participating in church and civic affairs. She served as a member and officer in the Episcopal Church Women, Junior Auxiliary, Magnolia Garden Club, Starkville Garden Club Council, MSU Business Belles, Starkville Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade Council, and the Miss Starkville Pageant Committee.

They moved to Jackson, and later to McComb where she taught second grade at Otken Elementary for 20 years, and was a long-standing member of the Episcopal Church of the Mediator.

She loved flashy jewelry, expensive flowers, the color pink, proper grammar, and shamelessly bragging about her grandson to anyone who would listen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, D.C. (Chauncey) and Vivian Randall of Columbus, and an infant son, Michael Dale Richmond. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Jay Losset, and her grandson, Jasper, of Jackson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Nicole Cleveland and Hannah Ivison, of Jackson Oncology Associates for their care and compassion. We owe gratitude beyond measure to every single member of the staff of The Orchard and The Arbor, whom she thought of as her extended family. We also thank her team at HomeCare Hospice for making her last days more bearable.

A private graveside service was held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit. Donations in Lucy’s honor can be made to the Episcopal Church of the Mediator, McComb, MS, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
