Obituary for Lonnie Eugene "Buck" Pridgen
Lonnie Eugene “Buck” Pridgen, 83, of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.

He was born June 4, 1935 to the late Edward Eugene and Marion Pridgen. He graduated from Central High School and attended Hinds Junior College.

He was the owner of Redwood Inn & Restaurant, home of the famous “Open Face Footlong Hot Dog.”

Buck was a member of First Methodist Church of Richland, MS, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Hunting memberships were at the 10-Point Deer Camp, Deer Run, Ole Bugle, and The Frank Seaney Club. In the past several years, he enjoyed duck hunting at Eagle Bend.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He collected duck stamps and many historic items. He professionally carved ducks, birds and fish. Some of his carvings are donated to the Mississippi Natural Science Museum.

Buck worked undercover with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife and David Hall, a federal game warden. He is part of the stories in the book “Game Wars.”

He is survived by his son, Aubrey (Debbie) Pridgen, Sr.; daughter, Suzanne (Mike) Mathis; grandchildren: Aubrey (Stephanie) Pridgen, Jr., Justin (Brittany) Mathis, Erin (James) Jones, Megan (Daniel) Floyd, and Nikki Mathis; sister, Jeanenne Riecken; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, April 28, 2019 at The Pointe Church in Brandon, Pastor James Twiner and Pastor Jim Taylor officiating. Visitation 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to All Things New, Inc. P.O. Box 2183, Brandon, MS 39043 or to The Pointe Church of Brandon, or to a charity of your choice.

Pallbearers will be James Jones, Daniel Floyd, Larry McAlpin, Ben Bowman, Chad Owen, and Randy Sistrunk.
