Obituary for Letson Elthron Easterling JR.
Letson E. (Les) Easterling, Jr., age 66, left this world to be with the Lord on Thursday May 19, 2016. Les was born on December 1, 1949 in Laurel, MS. As a young man, he was very active with the Boy Scouts of America. He earned multiple honors and ranks including One Palm Eagle Scout and Vigil Member the Order of the Arrow. He graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1971. From 1971 to 1978, he served in the Mississippi National Guard. He worked for the State of Mississippi Governor’s Office of Federal State Programs. He retired after 23 years of dedicated service. Les was also an active member of the Easterling Family Genealogical Society, assisting in the research and editing of the Easterling Family History Book. Les is survived by his mother, Bonnie Pou Williams of Madison, MS; his father Letson E. Easterling, Sr. of Wesson, MS; fiancé Debbie Ford of Farmhaven, MS; brother Richard Easterling (Lisa) of Charlotte, NC; brother Robert Easterling (Arlene) of Lexington, MS; sister Mary Ann Seeley (Lyman) of Madison, MS; brother Michael Easterling (Toni), of Mobile, AL; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved nephew Eric Seeley, step-father Alfred Williams, and step-mother Margaret Easterling. A Celebration of Life honoring Les will be held on Wednesday May 25th, from 3:00-5:00, at Sebrell Funeral Home, 425 Northpark Dr., Ridgeland, MS. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Chucky Mullins Memorial Scholarship or The American Cancer Society.
