Katie Dickey Smith of Pearl, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2023. “A lady never tells her age!”
Katie was born in Jackson, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Frank N. and Mary E. Dickey. She was a long-time resident of Pearl, Mississippi. She worked as an office manager over the years until her retirement in 2013. She cherished spending time with her family and friends and was always supportive of them throughout their lives. Katie loved her dogs, antiques, ice cream, shopping, and traveling. Katie was known for her generosity, sense of humor, and infectious laugh.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, three brothers, Frank Dickey, Larry Dickey, and Taft Dickey, and her daughter, Kathy Sullivan. She is survived by her husband, Michael Ross Smith of Flowood; her children, James Michael Tate (Alicia) of Florence, MS, and Frances Darlene Tate Staley (Patrick) of Florence, MS; her stepchildren, Michael Smith Jr. (Tina) of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Lisa Poole (David) of Burbank, CA; one sister, Frances Horn of Raymond, MS; her six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. And let us not forgot her favorite four-legged faithful companion, Coco.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 28th at 11:00am at Marvin United Methodist Church in Florence, Mississippi. A visitation and reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Methodist Children’s Homes of Mississippi, 805 N Flag Chapel Rd., Jackson, Mississippi 39209.
