Obituary for Katheryn Louise Beavers Foster
Katheryn Louise Beavers Foster, 94, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2018 at Baptist Hospital surrounded by her family. Mrs. Foster was born in Dalton, Georgia on February 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Eugene and Willie May Beavers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Warren Vernon Foster, Sr., and her two brothers, Robert (Jerry) and Harold (Peggy). A resident of Jackson for fifty years, she is survived by her children: Jan Taylor (Zach) and Katheryn Kolodny (Alan) of Jackson and Warren Foster (Irina) of Cordova, TN as well as her four beloved grandchildren: Dr. Stephen (Stephanie) Foster of Ridgefield, Washington; Zachary Taylor IV of New York City; Dr. Michael (Carlena) Foster of Clinton, MS; and Dr. Jenny Katheryn Taylor of Albuquerque, N.M., as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Called Mimi by her grandchildren, she will be remembered for her sense of humor, her love of family, her fabulous cooking, and her fondness for “antiquing”. When her children were small, she taught Sunday School & Vacation Bible School, was a Girl Scout leader, and was one of the most loyal volunteers at their schools. After her husband’s stroke, she drove the two of them around the state to make calls, having been a key part of the business, and continued that work well into her 80’s. She was a long time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and Chapter “F” of P.E.O. The family wishes to thank the staff of Baptist Hospital and Hospice Ministries for the tender care they provided Mimi in her final days. Services will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4000 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, Mississippi, with visitation at 10:30 A.M. followed by a memorial service at 11:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4000 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, Mississippi 39211 or the Pastors Fund, New Beginnings Community Church, 57 Morgantown Road, Natchez, Mississippi 39210.
