Julia Jannett Rowland Brown, 82, died June 4, 2016 at her residence in Flora, MS. Funeral services will be Monday, June 6, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Sebrell Funeral Home, with visitation Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brown was born in Winona, Ms., on March 1, 1934, to John Louis Rowland and Alma Ferrell Rowland. She married B. W. (Sam) Brown on February 29, 1953. The Brown's lived in the north Delta area until moving to the Inverness area and then the Potosi community in Yazoo County in the fall of 1959. They later lived in Benoit, Indianola, Estill (Hollandale area), before moving to the Flora area in 1971. A homemaker, Mrs. Brown raised her family that now included one son and two daughters.
Mrs. Brown leaves behind her husband of 63 years, B. W. "Sam" Brown, daughters; Sandra Kaye Brown and Julia Elizabeth Brown, both of Flora, son, B. W. "Sammy" Brown and wife Carol Ann of Flora ; granddaughter, Ashley Brown Tucker and husband, Jason of Flora, and grandson, Robert Louis Brown and wife, Tracy of Flora, and her precious 2-month old great granddaughter, Ava Addison Brown. Also, three sisters, Mary Jo Hearn of Brandon,Linda Smart of Bolton, and Betty Ann Pruett of Benbrook, Texas. Five brothers; Alvis Lee "Red" Rowland of Bolton, William Duncan Rowland of Bolton, Stanley Harris Rowland of Fort Worth, Texas, Kenneth Wayne Rowland, and Grady Ferrell Rowland of Tyler, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a fabulous cook and loved cooking meals from the vegetable garden. Mrs. Brown enjoyed sewing not only for her daughters and herself, but also for her daughter-in-law and grandchildren'
Mrs. Brown enjoyed doing crafts with her girls and also painting ceramics, especially roosters and Christmas items.Her house is adorned with an angel collection of various angels given to her over the years. As her granddaughter,Ashley told her one day, "we are your angels, Mammaw, even if our halos get crooked sometime."
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Robbie Nell Rowland, five brothers; Otis Eugene(Sonny) Rowland, John Howard Rowland, Jewell Douglas Rowland, Hugh David"Bud" Rowland, and Robert Earl Rowland.
