Obituary for Judith Lovitt Hart
Judith Lovitt Hart, 75, of Jackson, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Visitation will be at 10am on Tuesday, August 4 at St. Richard Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11am. Judy was born in Natchez to Marie and Charles McCall Lovitt on January 15, 1945. After Charlie Mac’s death in WWII a few months later, Judy was raised solely by her mother. Judy graduated from St. Joseph High School in Jackson and The Mississippi University for Women in Columbus. On December 28, 1968, she married Michael Joseph Hart of Jackson. Judy and Mike knew of each other throughout high school and college, but never dated one another during that time. It was after college graduation, while Mike was in the army, that they began exchanging handwritten letters. Six months after their first date, they were married. They served as a beautiful example of marriage for almost 52 years. In addition to being a devoted wife, Judy was also a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She cherished her time with her children and grandchildren. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Charles Lovitt. Judy is survived by her husband, Mike; children, Doug (Christine) and Kristy Morris (David); and grandchildren, Austin Hart, and Kathryn and Lindsey Morris. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Richard Catholic School, 100 Holly Drive, Jackson, MS 39206.
