Obituary for Jon Douglas Twiss
Our youngest brother, Jon Douglas Twiss, was called home to heaven recently, where he joined his beloved wife, Melanie Penn Twiss. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy G. Twiss, father, Armin R. Twiss, nephew Sgt. Gale Stauffer, and his brother-in-law, Dennis Jacobsen. Jon is survived by his sister, Kathleen Stauffer Jacobsen of Castle Rock, WA, his brothers, Jeffrey R. Twiss (Cathy) of Moss Point, MS. and Kevin G. Stauffer (Kay) and children of Baton Rouge, LA. Surviving nieces and nephews include; Caroline S. Turney (Brandon) & children; Scott A. Cooper (Jennifer) & children; Jason Coker (Raquel Harper); Janna Coker; Jillian Schneider (Adam) & son; Beth L. Stauffer (& children). He is also survived by his aunt Lenora Norris & children, uncle Coke Wilson & children, and brothers-in-law, William & John Penn & their children. Jon graduated from Morton High School where he played basketball, and graduated from Hinds Community College. He and Melanie enjoyed attending community theatre, ballet and music concerts, and art fairs throughout the area. Jon was a man of empathy and concern for others. These traits were exemplified by his 30 years of service with the Mississippi Regional Housing Authority, and by his decades of volunteer work with CONTACT the Crisis Line, where he served as a Support Worker and as a member of the Advisory Board. He was a faithful and consistent member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, October 23, 2021, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be at 10 AM, Service at 11 AM, followed by committal on the columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jon’s name to CONTACT the Crisis Line, P.O.
