Obituary for Jomie Clyde Cain
Jomie Clyde Cain was born on January 15, 1957. He passed away, peacefully, on Saturday, September 4, 2021. He is preceded in death by his father, Tom L. Cain, and mother, Beverly C. Cain. He is survived by his three sisters, Candy Leigh Cain, Lisa Cain Futvoye and Nancy Cain Green. Jomie is also survived by three nieces, one nephew, a great niece and great nephew. Jomie was born and raised in South Jackson, the Garden Park area. He was a 1975 graduate of Wingfield High School where he was student body president, Who’s Who Among American High School Students and Mr. Wingfield. He was a 1980 graduate of Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. From bartending. restaurant management, employee leasing, to teaching, he was always comfortable and happy working with people. He loved everybody and especially his ‘brothers’ of many years, some dating back to first grade. He was passionate about cooking and entertaining. Mississippi State sports were among his favorites. He excelled in many high school and college stage performances and pantomime throughout his college career. He loved to volunteer with churches, art associations and Jubilee Jam. Music was an important part of Jomie’s life, he enjoyed playing bass in high school rock bands. Services will be held on September 11, 2021, at St. James Episcopal Church in Jackson. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1300 W. Capitol St., Jackson, MS. GWHF.
