Obituary for John Timothy "Tim" Gordon, Sr.
John Timothy “Tim” Gordon, Sr. died Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in Raymond. He was 75.
A native of Greenwood, Mississippi, born October 12, 1942, he was the son of the late James T. Gordon and the late Minnie Lee Shurden Williams.
He was a 1962 graduate of Forest Hill High School and also a graduate of Hinds Community College in Raymond. Tim proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966 and was a Vietnam Veteran. Tim worked for many years with the Stuart Irby Electric Co. in Vicksburg and Jackson. He retired from Parker-Hannifin and later worked for Milwaukee Tool Company.
Tim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. He was a member of the Bucksnort Hunting Club where he spent much time afield with his sons and grandkids.
Tim often spoke of his love and appreciation for Salem Baptist Church and Harmony Baptist Church. He was honored to be a member of them.
Above all, Tim loved his family. He was a generous and fun loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Gordon; stepmother, Lucille Gordon; uncle, John Gordon; and son-in-law, Ron Holman.
He is survived by three children: daughter, Stacy Gordon Holman, of Athens, GA; son, James A. Gordon, of Terry; son, John T. Gordon, Jr. (Delese), of Tupelo; and their mother, Beth McNamee Gordon, of Raymond; sisters: Cindy Maniscalco (Tony), of Byram, OH; Muriel Humphries (Jerry), of Florence; Mary Nell File (Gary), of Blissdale, MI; brother, Tommy Gordon, of Goodlettsville, TN; grandchildren: Rylan Holman, Raley Holman, Raegan Holman, Clarke Gordon, Claire Gordon, and Clay Gordon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends are invited to visitation with the family after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland where the funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
During his father’s decline, James moved home to Raymond from Alaska to care for his father. The family, especially the children, would like to express their love for and their gratitude to their mother, Beth Gordon, for her devotion and dedication in the constant care and companionship of their father, Tim. The amiable and healed relationship between Beth and Tim is evidence of the grace of God.
Pallbearers will be Joe McNamee, Jr., Tim Puckett, Cameron Dinkins, Charles Wright, Tim Johnson, Robert Daley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe McNamee, Sr., Reggie McNamee, Jay McNamee, Justin McNamee, Neil Stewart, and members of the Bucksnort Hunting Club.
