Obituary for John Robinson, Jr.
John Robinson, Jr. passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018. He was 83.
A native of Clarksdale, Mississippi, born April 15, 1935, he was the son of the late Junior and Carrie Bell Sanders Robinson. Mr. Robinson had been employed with the City of Jackson retiring after 33 ½ years of service. He was a man of many talents who was also known as the life of the party. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and was brilliantly creative with his artistic hands. He could play the organ, build things or repair an automobile; his skills were many. He loved his family and will be missed dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion, Dorothy Nell Claxton; sons, Burnette Claxton and James Claxton; sisters, Murdice Robinson and Katie Kitchens Bracey; and a brother, Robert Robinson.
He is survived by his loving daughters: Gladys Merritt, Bobbie Jo White (Ben), Linda Jordan (Levon), and Roshel Bullie (Lonzo); his sons: Larry Claxton (Gwen), Ronnie Claxton (Angela), and Wardell Claxton (Jacqueline); a sister, Sadie Wilson; daughters-in-law, Debbie Claxton and Sara Ann Claxton; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at We Care Church, 139 Colonial Circle, Jackson, the Rev. Charlie Clark, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood South Memorial Park on McCluer Rd. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland.
Pallbearers will be Levon Jordan, Curtis Claxton, Spencer Robinson, Christopher Whalen, Calvin Sanders, Jason Claxton.
