Obituary for John Houston Ingram
John was born to Fred and Maridel Ingram in Jackson, MS on November 23, 1979, and chose to go home on January 5, 2018. John grew up in Jackson having attended Murrah and graduated from Jackson Prep (’98 ). He played soccer for both schools and was selected a class favorite his senior year at Prep. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and was a devoted member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Upon graduation he worked in patient care at the Mississippi State Hospital for six years. He left the hospital and was a part of the original Parlor Market restaurant group where he served as the house manager. After six years he moved to Hal and Mal’s and worked there for almost two years. John was an avid MSU fan and loved sports in general, and was passionate about Arsenal soccer. John grew up in First Baptist Church, Jackson where he became a Christian. For the last several years Grace City Church has been a special and meaningful church family for him. In 2009 he became interested in short term mission work and went to Guinea where he had a very rewarding experience not only with the local people but also with the missionary family. He subsequently made two trips to Cambodia working with teens. John was a very caring and loving person who was loved by all those who knew him. Some comments made by friends: he was a shining light in Jackson; he always had a hug and a smile for you; he was the best friend you could ever ask for. John is survived by his parents and sisters, Julie Moody (Stewart) of Statesboro, GA, and Jodie Allen of Brandon, MS (Jeremy). He will be missed by his aunts and uncles, Doug Thornton, Mitch Clemmer (Sherri), David Clemmer (Liz), and Steven Clemmer. He loved his cousins, Kyle, Kelly, Chelcie, Seth, Sully, Kristin, Taylor, John, and Shelby. He also adored his nephews and nieces, Tyler, Rosemary, Trace and Ellie.
