Obituary for John F. Orr, Sr.
John Franklin Orr, Sr. passed away February 9th, 2020 at his residence in Clinton, MS. He was born in Winona, MS to the late James Franklin and Alice Morehead Orr on June 11th, 1948. John was a provider for his family; he worked very hard yet had a kind, caring, and gentle spirit that cared for and helped people. He put his children first, making sure they had what they needed as well as helping others. John enjoyed working with his hands, under the hood of a truck or car, he could repair anything. He is a father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather and a cousin who will be greatly missed. John is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Winfred Morris Orr. He is survived by his sons- Roy E. Orr, II of Clinton, MS, John F. Orr, Jr. (Cindy) of Florence, MS and step sons, Peter Althoen who lives in Germany and Klaus Althoen of Tuscan, AZ; daughter, Susanne Althoen who lives in Germany and step daughter Shuwanna T. Redferrin; brothers, Roy E. Orr (Carolyn) of Flora, MS and Albert A. Orr (Michelle) of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Barbara Tharp of Indianola, MS; grandson, Kennth D. Orr (Anne); great granddaughter, Ella L. Orr; and caretaker who was very special to him, Dorothy Orr and her two daughters, Catherine Higgins and Christy Sharp. He was also survived by numerous cousins including Ralph and Michael Orr who live in the Omaha, NE area and other cousins in Louisiana. Funeral services are Thursday, February 13th, 2020 at Sebrell Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 8:30 until 9:30, a chapel service will follow. Burial will be MS VA Cemetery in Newton at 11:30. Pallbearers will be John Orr, Jr., Roy Orr, Albert Orr, Ralph Orr, Klause Althoen and Michael Orr. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, please donate to Willow Wood Development Center, 1635 Boling St., Jackson, MS 39213.
