Obituary for John C. Halbach
John C. Halbach, 52, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday June 28th, 2020 at Merit Health River Oaks in Flowood, MS. John was born April 2nd, 1968 in Midland, MI. As a young child his family relocated to Port Gibson, MS. He graduated from Chamberlain Hunt Academy in 1986. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Doris “Rae” Halbach of Brandon, MS. John will be remembered not only as a man who loved his family and friends fiercely, but also as an avid musician, film photographer, collector, and aficionado. He loved to learn about nearly anything, and always reminded his loved ones to enjoy the simple things in life. He loved his church family and was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church of Jackson, MS. John is a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Halbach of Brandon, MS; his children, Christopher and Rush Halbach both of Jackson, MS and Emily Allyn Sharp of Brandon, MS; grandson, Grayson Stanley; step-children Emily Glasier of Columbus, OH, Callie Osacar of Pittsburgh, PA and C. David Alden of Oil City, PA. He is also survived by brothers, Brandt Halbach of Athens, GA and Erik Halbach of Tupelo, MS; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor John with a donation to the Celebrate Recovery Program at Christ United Methodist Church of Jackson or one of the many AA Programs in Jackson, MS and surrounding communities. No public memorials are planned at this time.
