John A Salter died at the V A Medical Center on September 22, 2022, with family by his side. He was 96. He was born at McLeod, Mississippi (Macon) on September 7, 1926, to Medora Lenow Salter and Cary W. Salter, Sr.
Mr. Salter was indebted for their loving care to the nurses and therapists at Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation where he lived the past year. The staff appreciated his optimism and relentless drive to regain his health and surpass the goals set for his physical therapy. A longtime member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, he was grateful to the Senior Ministry Outreach staff for their continued care, prayer, and concern for him until the end.
He was predeceased by his siblings Cary W. Salter, Jr. and Elizabeth Salter Tumlinson Emerson and his niece Kay Salter. He is survived by his sister, Medora “Sugar” Weaver, children Caryn Quilter, Lyn Isonhood, and John Salter, and three nieces.
