Obituary for Joe Lene Burr
Joe Lene Burr, 77, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at University Medical Center.
Mr. Burr was born on September 1, 1938, the son of the late Cade and Sarah Burr in Smithdale, MS. A veteran, he served his country honorably as a Petty Officer aboard the USS Kishwaukee in the US Navy. Mr. Burr participated in the US Atomic Test on Bikini Island. After his military service he met and married the former Diana Roy.
Mr. Burr resided in Ridgeland for the past four years and formerly lived in Longview, TX, New Orleans, LA and Brookhaven, MS. He enjoyed fishing, playing games on his computer and keeping up with his friends and family on Facebook. He cherished spending time with his family. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Cade, James and Cecil Burr.
Survivors include: wife, Diana R. Burr of Ridgeland; daughter, Jo Ann LeVert and husband Ronnie of Madison; Christopher Burr and wife Christina of Rhome, TX; daughter, Cindy Samford and husband Dennis of Longview, TX; son, Roy Burr of Canton, MS; daughter, Jolene Burr of Marshall, MN; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Marvin Burr and wife Roxanne of Buford, GA; brother, Richard Burr and wife Vickie of Mandeville, LA; sister, Sarah Doan of Lake Charles, LA; brother, Michael Burr and wife Martha of Eclectic, AL; sister, Sandra Dee Bardwell and husband Dewayne of Farmington, NM.
