Obituary for Jo Anne Blackwell Vance
Jo Anne Blackwell Vance, 64, of Jackson, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, MS.
The family will hold an informal gathering on Sunday, January 3, 2021, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at the home of Jo Anne’s daughter Kerri and her husband Jeff, at 111 Suzanne Cove in Clinton, MS Friends and family are invited to come by to pay their respects.
Jo Anne was born on November 21, 1956, to Albert D. and Mattie Mathis Blackwell in Indianola, Mississippi. She grew up in Moorhead, Mississippi, and graduated from Leflore County High School in 1973. She married James Vance and lived in the Clinton area where they raised their four daughters. Jo Anne was a certified pharmacy technician and worked at Fred’s Pharmacy for a number of years until she left her employment to care for her father. Jo Anne had a servant’s heart and put the needs of others ahead of her own. She cared for her father and mother until their deaths. At the time of her passing, she had dedicated herself to caring for her husband. Even in death Jo Anne chose to serve others as an organ donor. Jo Anne was a Christian and a longtime member of Pochahontas Baptist Church, and was active in the church family until her husband became ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, John W. Blackwell.
She is survived by her husband, James Vance, and their daughters, Amy Searle of Clinton, Kerri Vance Keuneke and her husband, Jeff of Clinton, Sarah Vance of Jackson, and Jody Vance of Horn Lake. She leaves eight grandchildren, Alex Carson, Libby Ozborn, Breanna Keuneke, Sydney Keuneke, Shelby Polk, Makenzie Polk, Haylee Polk, and Ryleigh Polk, a sister, Kathleen B. Jenkins and her husband Perry of Madison, and two brothers, Al Blackwell and his wife Connie of Yazoo City and Charles Blackwell and his wife Lisa of Pearl.
She will be dearly missed.
