Obituary for Jo Ann Brueck Waltman
JoAnn Brueck Waltman passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2022. JoAnn is preceded in death by her loving husband Herchell Finnis Waltman Jr.; her parents Joe Calvin Brueck Sr. and Leanie Thames Brueck; her sisters Betty Langford Knight and Barbra Brueck Bethshares; her brother Joe Calvin Brueck Jr.; and her daughter-in-law Susan Senn Waltman. JoAnn is survived by her daughter, Whitney Waltman Burns and husband Joe, her son Trey Waltman and wife Jodi, her son Wyatt Waltman and four grandchildren, who affectionally call her Grand and are forever thankful for all she taught them, Avery Burns, Price Waltman, Chance Waltman and Lily Waltman.
JoAnn was born February 8, 1933 in Brookhaven, Mississippi. She attended Brookhaven High school where she played basketball, ran track and was a majorette. She then went on to Co-Lin Junior College in Wesson, Mississippi where she was a member of the Colette’s Dancing Team. JoAnn loved playing tennis, vacations with her family at the beach, and traveling with Herchell. Most of all she cherished hosting family birthday parties, Christmas Eve dinner and Saturday morning pancake breakfasts with her grandchildren. She was an active and devoted member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 29 at 11:00 a.m. with a celebration of life to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4000 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Covenant Presbyterian Preschool or the charity of your choice.
