Obituary for Jerry Lee Humphries
Jerry Lee Humphries, 79, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. He was born March 1, 1940 to the late Hosie and Almeadie Elrod Humphries in Franklin, AL. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, his thirteen siblings and his grandson Michael Valadez. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Muriel McCarley Humphries; son- Doyle (Susan) Humphries; daughters- Shelia (Al) Valadez, Susan (Alan) Chook, Gayle Taylor and Janet French: grandchildren- Heather Esparza, Courtney Ramirez, Joseph Valadez, Thomas Valadez, Isabella Chook, Zachary Chook, Christian Taylor, Noel Taylor, Jennifer French, Brandon French, Nathan French, and Matthew French; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Jerry enjoyed building bird houses, gardening, baking, and spending time with family and good friends. He had a passion for riding the kids on his tractor, cutting the grass, baking blueberry pie, pepper bread and watching the grandkids play in the front yard. Most of all, he loved picking at his grandchildren. He had an amazing sense of humor that made him the life of the party.
Jerry loved and lived for his family. He is a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Visitation for Jerry is at 12:00 p.m. and funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Sebrell Funeral Home with James Cooley officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery on Hwy 49 in Richland, MS. The pallbearers will be Doyle Humphries, Joseph Valadez, Thomas Valadez, Brandon French, JG Martin and Justin Jordan. Honorary pallbearers are Freddie Birdno and James Cooley.
