Obituary for Jerald Mayfield Bullock
Jerald Mayfield Bullock entered the world on April 26, 1945 and departed for his home in Heaven on Sunday morning, February 27, 2022. Jerry was a retired educator, having served students from middle school to graduate level Education Majors.
Jerry, himself, was a 1963 graduate of Provine High School in Jackson, MS. He received his undergraduate degree from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, MS. He furthered his education at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, earning both his Master’s degree and Doctorate of Education. He served at schools and universities in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. Jerry also served as the Accreditation Coordinator at Charleston Southern University and The Citadel University. He retired from Education as a major at the Citadel in Charleston, SC, where he taught graduate educators.
Jerry was a fun spirit and brought joy to all who knew him. His family was his top priority. He loved spending time with friends and had a great social circle of friends. He was an avid reader and enthusiastic traveler. He loved continuing his education by studying up on a variety of subjects, such as real estate, the US Tax Code, and others. His family and friends were the beneficiaries of all his accumulated knowledge, and he will be sorely missed not only for his sense of humor and fun, but for his ability to give sage advice from his wealth of knowledge. Born in Jackson, MS, he resided in Clinton, MS at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mayfield and Nell Ellis Bullock, 2 brothers, Charles and Max Bullock, and 1 sister, Sandra McFarland.
He is survived by his spouse of many years, William C. Wood, 2 daughters, Crystal Bullock in Athens, Georgia, and Melody Lynn Melton (Mike) of Bogart, GA, 1 brother, Stan Bullock of Byram, MS, and 2 sisters, Janet Bullock of Canton, MS and Mary Jean Bullock Christian (John) of Tallulah, LA, 3 grandchildren and multiple nieces, nephews and great nieces/nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that your favorite charity be the beneficiary of your generosity.
