Obituary for Jerald Dwayne Newsom
Jerald Dwayne Newsom passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018. He was 84.
A native of Bruce, Mississippi, born April 30, 1934, he was the son of the late Frank M. and Mary Lou Neal Newsom. He retired with Corr-Williams following many years of service.
Mr. Newsom will be remembered as a wonderfully genuine and giving person, the epitome of living a life of compassion, kindness and turning the other cheek. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Elsie Johnson Newsom; and his sisters: Stella Martin, Birdie Carter, and Virgie Wilson.
He is survived by his children: son, Mike Newsom (Sheila), of Duck Hill, MS; daughter, Debra Newsom, of Bartlett, TN; daughter, Sandra Trussell (Mickie), of Gore Springs, MS; daughter, Teresa Monaghan (Randy), of Flowood, MS; daughter, Tina Bennett (Dennis), of Milner, GA; daughter, Denice Perkins (Pat), of Madison, MS; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Sebrell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Andy Stoddard, officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will begin after 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
