Obituary for Jean Pittman Carter
Edna Jeanette “Jean” Pittman Carter died on Friday, April 19, 2019 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. She was 69.
A native of New Orleans, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Melba Sharp Pittman.
Jean was a 1968 graduate of Forest Hill High School. She loved attending her class reunions especially her most recent 50th year reunion in 2018. She was an underwriter for Botrell Insurance for over 20 years. She was the founder, owner & operator of Jean Pittman Cleaning Contractors which is still in business today.
Jean was the most outgoing, determined, and genuine person. In her gift of her longtime sobriety, she mentored many young girls and women over the years. Her heart was just too big to hold . . . she always placed everyone else’s needs before hers. She was the epitome of living life with perseverance and vibrancy; always giving and always loving. She enjoyed everything outdoors in the sun and for many years rode motorcycles with her Christian motorcycle group.
Over the years, Jean had become committed and involved in numerous Missionary programs and ministries which carried her overseas into many impoverished countries serving those in need and spreading the Word.
Above all, she loved the Lord. She adored her family and was the most faithful wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, cherished sister and aunt, and dedicated friend to so many. She taught us how to love, forgive and treat others. She will forever be in our hearts.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde S. “Butch” Carter, of Jackson; daughter, Kimberly Lynn McFarland (Mike), of Learned; son, Charles “Chuck” Smith (Jennifer), of Brandon; daughter-at-heart, Carrie Aycock; sister, Beth Hall (Errol), of Vicksburg; brother, Charlie Pittman (Pam), of Raymond; grandchildren: Jordan Jaggar, Brandon McFarland, Brennan McFarland, Brooke McFarland, and Christian Smith; 7 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening, April 22, 2019 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland, the Reverend Robert Myers officiating. Visitation 6 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Memorials may be made in Jean’s memory to any Missions-based programs or to a charity of your choice.
