Obituary for Jean B. Polk
Jean B. Polk died on Thursday, January 14, 2021 surrounded by her family at her home in Brandon. She was 76.
A native of Jackson, Mississippi and born May 13, 1944, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Bessie Smith Bolden.
Jean was a 1962 graduate of Forest Hill High School. She was a longtime member of Brandon Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday school class and the Seniors Group. She was very social and had many friendships that spanned across church to community. She retired in 2004 from the Mississippi State Tax Commission after 30 years of dedicated service.
Jean was a woman of great strength and perseverance. Her faith and her strong will endured through lifelong health adversities. She was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Walter Lee “Bucky” Bolden and two great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Polk Parker, of Clinton; son, Jeff Polk (Susan), of Pelahatchie; grandchildren, Jeremy Parker (Melissa), Kaylee Parker, Kevin Polk (Ashleigh), and Sarah Polk, Victoria Chandler, and Anna Leigh Palmer; great grandchildren, Charli Parker, Addie Polk, and J.D. Polk; brother, John F. Bolden, Jr. (Betty), of Raymond; and a host of other relatives.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Lakewood Memorial Park South in Jackson, Dr. Clarence Cooper, Pastor, Brandon Baptist Church, officiating.
