Obituary for Janie Marshall Hughes
Janie Marshall Hughes passed away July 8, 2016 in Madison, MS. She was born in Flora MS on January 12, 1934. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi. She married Lacey Flynt Hughes in 1956.
She worked as a geological draftsman for several independent Jackson oil companis of yore, beginning in the late sixties until she transferred to Lafayette, LA with Unocal, where she spent many weekends deep sea fishing and canoeing with her colleagues, and retired in 2009, at which time she returned to live in Madison.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Hughes Bass, of Missoula, MT, and granddaughters Mary Katherine Bass and Lowry Bass, and Lacey Flynt Hughes, Jr, and his wife Patti, of Birmingham, AL, and grandsons Connor and Lauchlin.
Private graveside services will be held at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
A memorial service will be held Thursday July 14 at 10:00, in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Jackson, with visitation following immediately afterward until 12:30. Condolences may be posted st Sebrell Funeral Home.
