Obituary for Janet L. Brackett
Janet L. Brackett, 78, passed away Monday January 21st in Jackson, MS. She was born June 27th,1940 in Feltham, England. Her parents were the late Jock and Rox McMurray. She came to the United States after her schooling and married Charles Ray Brackett. They were married for 56 years and raised 4 children in Jackson. Janet was a member of St. Andrews Cathedral, where she devoted much of her time serving others. Janet enjoyed playing tennis and loved to travel. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and reading. Her greatest joy was found in her family. She was a wonderful “Nana” and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren or her “Little Pickles” as she lovingly called them. She also loved dogs, especially her sweet dog Rebel. Janet is preceded in death by her husband Charles Ray Brackett, her parents Jock and Rox McMurray, and her grandson, Mitchell Brackett Giles. She is survived by her children Lea Smith (Nelson) of Bartlett, TN, Aden Giles of Pearl, MS, and Robyn Chunn (Rickey) of Jackson, MS, and Cameron Brackett (Suzanne) of Germantown, TN. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great- grandchildren Alex Giles, Rachel Smith, Shaun Chunn, Emma Smith, Sam Brackett, Gavin Brackett, Hayley Giles, Allison “Ally” Trials, and Grayson Giles. A memorial service will be held January 25th at St. Andrew’s Cathedral. Visitation will be 2 P.M. until 3 P.M. at the Cathedral with a service at 3 P.M. The Reverend Jennifer Deaton will be officiating. In lieu of flowers please donate to C.A.R.A. or St. Andrew’s Cathedral 305 E Capitol St, Jackson, MS 39201.
