Obituary for James Ware Hodo
James Ware Hodo On the evening of Tuesday, May 9th Ware Hodo, a brilliant, huge-hearted, and talented man took his life after suffering for years and years with mental illness: severe depression and addiction. Ware had many great accomplishments in his life. He was the father of two children Robert and Madison Hodo, he was an Eagle Scout and achieved the Order of the Arrow, and he served in the US Navy on the nuclear submarine U.S.S. Kamehameha as a Nuclear Technician. Among all this was his love for automobiles, in particular, classic car restoration. He proudly owned and operated The Wicked Rod Shop from May of 2008 to June of 2016. Ware instilled new life into these cars, and he left behind a legacy. The Wicked Rod Shop was his pride and joy. There are numerous classic cars, trucks, and hot rods in and around Mississippi that will forever have his fingerprints on them. He left an indelible mark on every heart and every piece he touched. Many of these builds were in numerous car shows and received top awards. Each work was deeply personal to him and to the owners. Restoring, fabricating, and building cars was his true passion. Ware also loved heavy-metal as well as classical music, especially Slayer and Vivaldi. His love for animals was incomparable as was sense of humor. We wish for each of you to understand that this was not a selfish act. This is a faceless disease that he dealt with for much longer than he could endure and doesn’t have his demons facing him anymore. Ware left this earth a more beautiful place and he was the epitome of what it really meant to love and to be kind. He is survived by his two children, James Robert Hodo and Madison Victoria Hodo; his father James William Hodo, and his sister Amanda Claire Hodo; he was preceded in death by his mother, Emily Sistrunk Hodo;and he leaves numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins that will forever remember what an incredible heart Ware possessed.
