Obituary for James Stewart McReynolds
James Stewart McReynolds, USAF Lt Col, 80, passed away on 8 May 2016 at UMMC in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the husband of Rhaelea P. McReynolds. They were married 43 years. Born in Logan County, Kentucky, he was the Son of Edward Everett and Joyce Wheeler McReynolds. He graduated Lewisburg High School. He received his BA from Syracuse in 1968. He received his Master’s degree from Troy State University in 1979. He joined the Air Force in 1954. He completed OCS in September 1960. He completed pilot training in 1962. He flew C-130’s for 20 years. He was in and out of Vietnam between 1965-1969. He served in the Air Commando’s in Vietnam in 1969-1970. Beginning in 1972 he served as the Senior Air Advisor to the Mississippi Air National Guard in Jackson, Mississippi. He retired from the Air Force in 1980 after a tour at RAF Mildenhall, England. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross (with one Silver star), Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal (3 oak leaf clusters) eight Air Medals and the Vietnam Service medal (with oak leaf cluster). From 1980-1983 he worked as the Flight Operations Manager for Lockheed International in Jidda and Riyadh Saudi Arabia, flying with the Royal Saudi Air Force. In 1983 Jim and Rhaelea retired to Mississippi.

He was a Member of the Mississippi Lions club. He was a Member of Service Core of Retired Executives for Mississippi. He was a member of Military Order of World Wars and TROA.

He is survived by his wife, Rhaelea P McReynolds. His children Craig S McReynolds and Randy M McReynolds. His grandchildren, James B McReynolds, R. Matthew McReynolds and Linda M. McReynolds and his great grandson Kolten Chalmers. He was preceded in death by His parents, two sons’ and eight siblings.
