Obituary for James Power Vance
James Power Vance, 66, died on June 14 at St. Dominic Medical Center in Jackson.

A Celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland.

Mr. Vance was born on July 8, 1954, in Vaiden, Mississippi, the son of Harrison and Betty Vance. A veteran, he served his country in the United States Army, serving as a tank commander, and later serving in the Army National Guard.

An outdoorsman, he loved fishing, bird watching and gardening. Mr. Vance was very active in his church, Pocahontas Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was a dedicated family man and worked hard all of his life to care for his family. The only thing greater than his love for family was his love for God.

Mr. Vance was married to Jo Anne Blackwell Vance for forty-two years until she preceded him in death on December 30, 2020. He is also preceded in death by parents, Harrison and Betty Vance, and one brother, Russell Vance.

Survivors include his four children: Amy Searle of Vicksburg, MS; Kerri Keuneke and her husband Jeff of Brandon, MS; Sarah Vance of Jackson, MS; and Jody Vance of Walls, MS. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests, in honor of James Vance, please make donations to Pocahontas Baptist Church.
