Obituary for James O Hopkins
James “Jimmy” Orman Hopkins II was greeted by loved ones at the feet of Jesus on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at his home in Jackson, MS. Jimmy was born October 2, 1957 at The Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi - first born child of James Orman Hopkins I and Charlotte Hodo Hopkins. He is survived by his daughter Treja Leigh Hopkins and son James “Ja” Orman Hopkins III; Sister Cathy (Brice) Massey; Brother Mark (Tracy) Hopkins; Sister Sharon Enlow and grandson James “Ja Ja” Orman Hopkins IV. Along with adoring nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Chester and Pearl Hopkins; grandmother Ola Kate Birdsong; grandparents Floyd and Helen Hodo; Parents, James Orman Hopkins I, Ed and Charlotte Enlow; Brother David Hopkins; and Sister Elizabeth “Liz” Hopkins Thompson. Jimmy had gifts of love and wisdom to share with all who encountered him. He was an avid fisherman who found joy in enhancing everyone else’s fishing experience. His occupations included – restoration specialist, Carpenter, Butcher, Musician, and he played the blues like no other. Ask Jimmy how to play the blues – he would say “Hang your head and let your fingers cry” He made the most amazing biscuits and loved to feed people his special and healing creations. Matthew 11:28-29 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Memorial services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Oak Grove Church of God – 1778 SCR 135, Morton, MS 39117 (google maps 1778 South C Road, Morton, MS 39117) The church is in Polkville with a Morton address.
