Obituary for James Matthews
James Matthews, 72, died June 26, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Sebrell Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 12:00 Noon. A graveside service will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
James was born on January 4th, 1950, to the late, Will Vernon Matthews and Geneva Walker Matthews in Hinds County, Mississippi.
James was always known for his generosity as well as being helpful. He loved talking to people. James worked throughout his life in various industries and most recently he worked at Mama's Kitchen. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Will Vernon Matthews and Geneva Walker Matthews as well as his wife, Charlotte Ann Matthews and one brother, William Francis Matthews.
He is survived by three siblings, Sue Matthews Rutland (Wendell) of Jayess, MS, Robert Earl Matthews of Jackson, MS, and Milton Lynn Matthews (Tammy) of Brandon, MS, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
