James Filmore Merrill, 72, of Jackson, Mississippi, died on Friday, March 10, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. A Celebration of his life will be held at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
He was born on January 25, 1951, in Olney, Texas, the son of the late Ronald Merrill and Mildred Jones Merrill. A graduate of Pampa High School in Pampa, Texas, he continued his education, studying marketing at Texas Tech University.
Jim worked as an independent Sales Representative for Western Wear, Mid Atlantic Region.
Anyone that knew Jim knows that he enjoyed cooking and eating delicious foods. Always the life of the party and the best dressed guy in the room with more closets than his wife! He had a strong love of golf and enjoyed his many years playing the courses at Pinehurst. He always looked forward to Wednesday night choir practice and singing praises on Sunday morning with the church choir. He enjoyed listening to the music of Frank Sinatra and watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys. And yet to him, nothing compared to the joy he had spending time with his grandchildren and trying to beat them in Chess or Connect Four.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Elliott Merrill of Jackson; children, Carlin Tedesco (Bill Tedesco) Magnolia ,TX, Abby Merrill (San Marcos ,TX), Anna Beth Merrill (San Marcos ,TX) and grandchildren, Michael David Tedesco, Mary Catherine Tedesco, Elizabeth Florence Tedesco, Sophia Grace Tedesco. He is also survived by his brothers, Dick Merrill (Jo Merrill) (Mesquite, NV), Roger Merrill (Karen Merrill) (Granbury, TX) and sister in-law-, Cathey Merrill, (Wimberly, TX.)
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Ron Merrill of Wimberly, TX.
